Stibion Launches Bimsys

13-11-2025

Stibion has rolled out Bimsys, a fully web-based Biobank Information Management System (BIMS) designed to streamline biological sample tracking for hospitals, research institutes, and private labs.

Purpose of Bimsys

The primary purpose of Bimsys (Biobank Information Management System) is to centrally and securely manage biobank samples and related data throughout their entire lifecycle — from collection and processing, through storage and quality registration, to distribution for research. It ensures full traceability, regulatory compliance, and more efficient workflows.

Key Functions

  • Sample and aliquot registration & tracking (location, owner, storage conditions, barcode/ID)
  • Linking of sample metadata to donor or clinical data
  • including consent management and data status
  • Workflow and inventory management (worklists, dispatching, returns, and stock levels)
  • Quality control & audit trail (logging of all actions for reproducibility and transparency)
  • Security & user authorization (role-based access, data protection, GDPR compliance)

Key Benefits

  • Fewer errors and faster processing of sample logistics
  • Greater transparency and standardization in biobank operations
  • Improved compliance with ethical, legal, and institutional regulations
  • Facilitates secure data sharing and collaboration between research partners

Various customers are already working with Bimsys to their complete satisfaction. Further evaluations of Bimsys will follow in 2026 and will also be published via our newspage.
